ebay question as a seller

Hey all,

I am a small seller on ebay and sold an autograph mini helmet last week. I listed it with a buy it now with im payment. Buyer buys it and pays then he/she messages me about its authinticity. Told him/her it comes with a Gridiron Authentics coa just like it says in the listing. Well got the email this morning saying he doesn't believe its legit so, he wants to send it back and also wants me to pay the return shipping costs. I told him/her that they could return it but, I will not pay the return costs. They then told me that they are going to open a paypal dispute. I have never gone through this before so what can I expect? Also reading posts from the past what can he dispute? I sent him exactly what was listed and Gridiron Authentics is a huge seller on ebay. Could he even win this dispute even if I told him/her that I wouldn't accept the return?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • I wouldn't let him return it if I were you. You properly descibed it. I dont think ebay resolution will side with him, but if they do for some ridiculus reason, at least he will have to pay shipping to return it to you. Good luck.

He can basically return it for any reason, if it goes to a claim you're likely to get dinged with negative feedback and be forced to take it back. Under buyer protection it wont take much for him to get original shipping back but I doubt he would get return shipping. That company has lots of bad stuff so maybe he got cold feet or read up on some stuff online. Either way welcome to being a Ebay seller.

I hate buyers like that. Especially if everything was fully disclosed on the auction.

What is this guy's eBay name? I don't need a buyer like that.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.
  • If you didn't specifically say buyer pays return shipping, or if you signed up for for one of ebay's protection programs you may be responsible for return shipping.

Any buyer can return anything for any reason and you will most likely lose in any type of chargeback so
Option 1: Accept the return graciously try and avoid the negative and eventually block the guy and post his name so that others may do the same.
Option 2: Fight it tooth and nail-- Take one for the team and get a negative and you will most likely still have to issue a refund.

Good luck -- we deal with stuff like this every week.
