2001 topps Crome football rookies

Has anyone else found these particularly difficult to track down? It took me quite a while to get LT, Vick, Wayne, and Brees. I collect rookie cards and decided to just go with topps chrome for all the major sports. I know 2001 only made rookies as refractors but thought it was tough to find for a modern base rookie

Reggie Wayne is a tough one from this issue too.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

The rookies were 1-2 per box and numbered to 999 Plus this issue is 10+ years old. I bet there are some forgotten about Rookies in boxes. Great set!!

Yeah the Wayne RCs must all be hiding somewhere. The 2nd tier rookies like Justin Smith and Richard Seymour are really tough to find as well. Not sure about other parts of the set, but the RCs tend to be noticeably off center, usually l/r. Took me forever to get a Todd Heap 10 for my Ravens Registry set.
  • Just be glad they are not like the like 2000 Topps Chrome rookie refractors, those are numbered to /150.

People were cracking this stuff like, well....crack, trying to chase Vick, Tomlinson et al. Then the "second wave" of Reggie Wayne, Deuce McAllister, Chad Johnson, Drew Brees hit, and people opened whatever else they could find.

Of course, if you got Vick or Tomlinson you sold it.... any of the rest got stuffed in a box somewhere.

  • Ridiculous centering issues, I was lucky to find a high grade Brees & LT for a good price when I did. I've been looking for a decent Justin Smith RC, but the only ones popping up on eBay lately have been OC. Anyone here have the Richard Seymour PSA 10 (pop 1)?

I need 50 more to finish my raw set. They are tough to come by and centering is all over the place.

Good luck. I work on it from time to time but never spend too much focus as it is frustrating.

After those four National League games, Gorman Thomas was never the same, and neither were the Brewers, and come to think of it neither was I.

I have this complete master set all inserts, refractors, jersey cards, rookies #999 and the black #100 minus the Black Border Vick. I have been waiting patiently to strike on the Vick. Almost had it for $50.00 back when he was in the clink. Love this set. I think I paid $20.00 for the black border Brees back in the day. One of he best buys I ever made.

I have to say, I've gotten pretty lucky with the '01 Chrome that I've had graded. Bought my Tomlinson already graded, but have submitted 2 different Wayne RCs, one an 8, and the other a 9. I have also gotten 9s on raw subs of Brees, Seymour, and Vick. Wayne RCs are a little hard to come by on Feebay, but with a little patience, they seem to show up. I have another raw copy of the Seymour at PSA now, but I'm afraid it won't do any better than an 8.
