Vintage Baseball Question

Hi everybody. I have been a long time reader of this site and have learned a lot. Im hoping today someone could help me with some information and possible value of a baseball I just won at auction. I don't have the ball yet but its a 1979 American League National League Japan series game ball.
Thanks

Welcome. I'll guess $15 or less. Sorry to disappoint you but 1979 is not really considered vintage.
  • Sorry I didn't realize I had to turn it on. I was able to get a picture up as you have probably noticed. I actually won 9 balls over 2 lots. I was able to find most on Ebay but these are the balls I will be getting.

1979 American National League Japanese Series
    1979 World Series Game Ball
    1994 World Series Game Ball
    1993 All Star Game Ball
    1979 All Star Game Ball
    1982 World Series Official Ball
    1981 All Star Game Ball
    International League 100th Anniv. Ball
1992 All Star Official Game Ball

  • Thanks for the info.

This is the only write up I could find about the ball.

This commemorative game ball is believed to be this first special ball used for these match-ups, and the fourth ever Official Rawlings Game Ball - though not an official MLB regular season ball. It does have MLB commissioner Bowie K. Kuhn's official facsimile signature stamp.

Interesting that the commemorative stamp points out "American & National" as opposed to just "MLB."

This ball should be considered extremely rare. After years of collecting, it's only the 2nd one I've come across, though the production run and commercial sales are unknown.

Nice collection of baseballs. Not sure of the value but maybe you can eventually get each signed by the MVP of that years AS or WS. Of course they have to be alive but just throwing out ideas. Doug
  • That would be a pretty cool project.

Here is a 2002 Japan series ball that sold for $100. I don't see any from 1979 on ebay, so they could be pretty rare.

Wow, way off on my guess. That's cool for you.
  • Here are the pictures of all the balls I won at that auction today.

Hi, hello, how are ya? image
Are we talking game used or only commerative balls. There could be a bit of a difference.

  • I am really not sure. I was thinking some of them are game used. They are from the Estate of Warner Fusselle. He worked on this week in baseball with Mel Allan. But even if the aren't game used for the price I paid I think there is money to be made if I decide to sell.
