Hi everybody. I have been a long time reader of this site and have learned a lot. Im hoping today someone could help me with some information and possible value of a baseball I just won at auction. I don't have the ball yet but its a 1979 American League National League Japan series game ball.
Thanks

1979 All Star Game Ball
1982 World Series Official Ball
1981 All Star Game Ball
International League 100th Anniv. Ball
1992 All Star Official Game Ball
This is the only write up I could find about the ball.
This commemorative game ball is believed to be this first special ball used for these match-ups, and the fourth ever Official Rawlings Game Ball - though not an official MLB regular season ball. It does have MLB commissioner Bowie K. Kuhn's official facsimile signature stamp.
Interesting that the commemorative stamp points out "American & National" as opposed to just "MLB."
This ball should be considered extremely rare. After years of collecting, it's only the 2nd one I've come across, though the production run and commercial sales are unknown.
<< <i>Here is a 2002 Japan series ball that sold for $100. I don't see any from 1979 on ebay, so they could be pretty rare. >>
Wow, way off on my guess. That's cool for you.
Are we talking game used or only commerative balls. There could be a bit of a difference.
