1978 or 1985 Reprints????

Does anyone know if Topps did some 1978 or 1986 reprints over the last few years?? I was looking at my nephew's collection tonight and he has some 1978 and 1986 cards in his binders. And these were not stars, mostly no-names (Jamie Easterly anyone??) but he did have a 1986 Gary Carter. I looked at the cards and they did look legit for the time period (older cardboard stock - not that slick shiny stuff you kids use today), but I do not remember him getting them while he was with me (only time he went to card shows - he buys most of his stuff retail and all modern) although he did get some grab bags at Fenway Park last summer. The cards look mint. If they did do a reprint, is there any definitive way to tell?
Thanks in advance.

<< <i>I'd have to see the cards to tell. I know Topps had a series of "cards your Mom" threw away, that we reprints. >>
They are unlikely to be those as Jamie Easterly and Gary Carter didn't have a card in that set. Also, according to Beckett, Jamie Easterly hasn't had a Topps card of any kind since 1986.
They're either real or somebody made counterfeits of cards that aren't worth the time to counterfeit.
