question about shill bidding

So I'm looking at a card on ebay but the bid history is a little odd. I wanted to know if this is considered "shill bidding."

This one person bid 13 times in a row without anyone else bidding in between, all his/her bids were a dollar more each time, and each bid is within seconds of the last bid. Is this a classic example of shill bidding? And, are these the kinds of items to just walk away from? If it's not shill bidding, then whats the reason one would bid like this?

Any help would be appreciated!

Some people just bid like that. Check and see what else they are bidding on. If they bid like that for items from multiple sellers, then it's highly unlikely to be shill bidding.
  • I just bid on a card from my ipad and it asks me if I want to place another bid and it automatically puts it up by a dollar, the other bidder has bid high and every time I bid his bid goes up by a dollar without him doing anything. This could be the case?

The bidder in this case has 16% bids with this particular seller and 0 retractions. Probably unlikely it's shill bidding I guess.
    Thanks for the responses though.

Could also be an illusory tactic to repel the competition.........when in actuality nothing nefarious is taking place.

  • I've bid like that on occasion. My intent is not necessarily to put in a highest bid but to find out what the highest bid currently is.

Or he could be doing the "one click bid" option
