Counterfeiter Arrested!

I just read about this. It's the town next to me. I didn't even know the store was there, but happy to see SOMEBODY was concerned enough to get that CRAP off the market!

A Smithtown man was arrested Wednesday for selling counterfeit sports apparel in a Smithtown store.

According to police, Ronald Quinn, 46, was arrested on a second-degree trademark counterfeiting charge, a felony. Police said officers executed a search warrant at The Sports Shop, located at 298 Maple Avenue, after receiving a tip that counterfeit sports apparel was being sold there.

Counterfeit NHL, NFL, MLB, and NBA merchandise with a street value of roughly $50,000 was seized by officers.

Quinn is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 21.

Selling that stuff at a permanent business location is pretty bold.

Agreed guys .... how the hell do you sell all that stuff from an actual store? Not sure how long they have been open, but I don't think too long. Hopefully not too many people were ripped off.

  • There was another brick and mortar store about 20 minutes from where I live that had a guy get arrested for the same thing just a couple of months ago. I agree with you guys it seems crazy for someone to be doing something like that out in a regular store....but it must be more common than we think I guess.
