1921 Morgan Dollar Toning

I'm just curious about the specific type of toning that I see on most toned 1921 Morgans. The majority that I see have a crackled/marble toning and I don't see it on any other dates. It seems to be unique to this year. Perhaps I'm just not seeing the others, but it appears that way to me. Do any of you have a similar?

Nice clean 21, the toning appeals to me. As we all know the 1921 shallow relief Morgans don't tone nuclear.
Why is this? Less time in canvas bags? The silver used wasn't freshly mined?

I have a 21 and a couple of 21-D's that I picked up because of the toning. I like the look of the 1921 Morgan.

1921 was the year they started using a different method of preparing the planchets which I believe included washing with hydrochloric acid. That's the major reason why there are so few bag toned 1921 Morgans and so few [if any] killer toned Peace dollars. IIRC there are lots of milk spotted coins in the Peace dollar series.
