Tom Paciorek's Karnac Catch 22 Story

I was listening to AM 670 yesterday and they were doing their weekly interview with a member of the 1983 Sox leading up to opening day. Paciorek told the Luzinski Karnac story.

Luzinski holds an envelope to his temple and says, "Catch 22"

He tears open the envelope and reads, "What Ron Kittle would do if you hit him 100 fly balls"

This amused me.

  • quick Ron Kittle story. when I was 7 years old I saw Ron Kittle at a popcorn festival near my town, I went up to him and politely asked for an autograph,, Kittle turns to me, rudely says NO, turns his back, and walked away. now I understand he might have been tired or been signing all day, but there was not one person around him when I asked, and to treat a young fan so badly is something I'll never forget. to me Ron Kittle will always be a world class a-hole.

Kittle flipped me and a few buddies off during BP at Anaheim Stadium years ago. we had been riding his butt for, you guessed it, dropping fly balls.

if you were at Popcorn Fest that means you were in Valpo, and Kittle lives in Valpo which makes him an even bigger douche for doing that to a local kid. You must have been interrupting a trek to the golf course since that's where he spends roughly 95% of his time. Being around Fisk all those years must have rubbed off on Kittle. At least he didn't request $40 for his signature (which Fisk has been known to do to kids).

I have had Kittle out to a few card shows back in the day when I promoted them and, while a decent guy, you can tell he was a business man. Lets just leave it at that.

Kittle is now on Facebook and I have exchanged many messages with him and he has always been polite to me but you can tell he is all about business in many ways. He makes some pretty cool hand made baseball related items that he sells which are very pricey but nice. He is one of the many former players on Facebook that are very approachable online.

I went to a Sox vs. Sox game with my Brother back in the day and was about 10 years old. I stayed after the game and was down by the dugout and Fisk was standing there, and I begged him for an autograph for about 10 minutes, and I was the only kid there. He was just standing there talking to a Woman in the stands and never looked my way. I was about 25 feet from him and I KNOW he heard me.

I think about this often when ever I hear his name.

    Paul.

P.S. Sorry to hijack your thread. I have always liked Kittle.

    Later, Paul.

Isn't Kittle the one who made a big deal about Bonds refusing to sign stuff for one of his charities? If so, I don't feel bad for him after reading this.

When Luzinski is ragging you about your fielding, you must be pretty bad.
