CONTEST!! Win a year PSA membership and more prizes added! (MS150 Bike Ride) ~ CONGRATS TO bobbyw846

Fellow collectors,

This will be my fifth (wut?!?) MS150 and once again, rolling with the Saint Arnold Brewery Bike Team. For those not familiar with the event, donations benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society Lone Star Chapter and is a two day, 180-mile bike ride from Houston to Austin. Long story short, it's miserable but the monies help those less fortunate, which means good times.

Peanut gallery: That's great and all, stown, but what about the contest?

Rules:

To enter, please visit my fundraising page (http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/bnovy) and make a small or large image donation. Then, please either send me a PM / post here that said donation has been made and your alias will go into the drawing. On April 17th, I will use random.org to decide the winners of:

1st Place ~ 1-year PSA membership (Gold)
2nd Place ~ 1983 Topps Gwynn RC PSA 9 (donated by thunderdan)
3rd Place ~ $25 REI Gift Certificate (donated by thunderdan)
4th Place ~ $20 REI Gift Certificate (donated by thunderdan)

image

Fine Print:

* You can donate as many times as you wish but each alias only gets one entry.
* If you want to make a donation via check, please make it out to NATIONAL MS SOCIETY and PM me for an address. Also, for those that want to use PayPal, I may consider it on a case by case basis but I strongly discourage it. I've done it for a handful of very reputable members in the past but I prefer not to commingle the monies.
* For those that already have a membership, I'll substitute PSA gift certificates at an equal value ($110).
* Just for clarification, even though we exceeded my fundraising goal, the contest will remain open until April 17th.

While I do not foresee the need for additional fine print, I'm gonna leave this here, just in case... [edit] but for reals this time.

Misc:

* Last Year Photos
* Garmin Data ~ Day 1 / Strava Day 1
* Garmin Data ~ Day 2 / Strava Day 2
* This will be my only fundraising event for the year and that's all I have to say about that image
* I'm starting from Tully Stadium and will ride the Bechtel Challenge Route on Day 2. Maps (pdf): Overall route, day 1, and day 2.

Contestants:

thunderdan
jeffcbay
nightcrawler
perkdog
smtjoy
EchoCanyon
BigRedMachine
mknez
Stone193
CW
hankcaddy
miconelegacy
bobbyw8469

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I sincerely appreciate your time.

Mucho gracias!

Barry / stown

Barry ... just an FYI ... those Garmin Data Links bring you to the Garmin Store and NOT your personal data from last year.

    Good Luck on your ride!

For sure? I just checked on my phone and fakepad, neither are signed into Garmin, and the data came up. Sometimes if you check on a mobile device, it will push you to a different address.

    Thanks!

Thanks Jeff. That sound you just heard was me giving a HUGE sigh of relief.

As a side note, I'm adding the following fine print:

    Barry, donation sent.

Thank you for doing this. My father would have been so honored to have you ride in his memory. We lost him a month ago to MS, and it still really, really hurts to not have him in my life anymore.

Ride like you've never ridden before my friend.

The honor is all mine, Dan. Thoughts and prayers continue for you and your family.

For anyone that hasn't visited my fundraising page, please take a moment and read the obituary of Thunderdan's father.

Hey Barry, I just donated a small amount to the cause. I wish I could give more right now. Good luck in reaching your goal!
  • stownstown Posts: 11,321 ✭✭✭
Thank you so much for your generosity, Jeff. No donation is too small and to be honest, would rather have 20 people donate $10 over one person donating $200.

To keep things organized, I'm going to start a running list of collectors in the OP. So if you've made a donation but don't see your name, apologies in advance and please advise.

    Mucho gracias, Paul!!

The generosity continues to amaze me. Thunderdan is throwing in a 2nd place prize, a 1983 Topps Gwynn RC PSA 9!

    Wow.

    Shameless bump for two reasons:

    1) Posted a pic of the '83 Gwynn RC (awesome card, btw)
    2) Contest closes in less than a month

Please note that no donation is too small, every dollar counts.

Thanks again for your time and consideration. To those that have already donated, may karma shine brightly upon your next submission.

Barry, I'll go ahead and add another prize. The winner will be drawn among from those who will donate or have donated.

2 gift cards to REI. (one is $25; other is $20. Total value=$45) Please note (full disclosure): the PINs have been rubbed off because I couldn't remember how much was on each card (they've been in my wallet for quite some time but not to worry since these gift cards do not expire. Rest assured these are valid gift cards)

Your call whether you want to split them up and offer them as separate $20 and $25 prizes or together for one $45 prize. I will mail them to the winner (selected by you).

Thanks very much to all who have contributed so far. Let's keep it going!

  • Come on there has to be more than 13 people that will help support Barry with a donation that is tax deductible. This is a really great cause that is being supported.
