Anyone on the PSA set registry you admire?

I have long looked at Rushhead2112 set's because he basically has a set goal in mind to collect all of the Boston Redsox Topps cards (Team sets) and the Topps H.o.F. cards. I would love to also collect the Topps H.o.F. cards such as this and collect the Chicago White Sox. Kinda funny how we have very similar collecting tastes.

Is there anyone on the PSA set registry that you have admired for a long time and what is the reason?

Besides the obvious Donald Spence sets that is...

Paul.

Do you think that he has submitted any cards to PSA for grading? I met him at the national 2 years ago and he was very nice to speak too, but yes, I would like to at least make a few cards for my collection, instead of just buying everything.

I don't know about the registry, but there is a guy on flickr who has the sweetest high-end Jordan insert collection. If anyone wants to check out his cards you should look his flickr name up, it's "natsturner." He also has a few high grade vintage baseball cards as well.
Alot of his cards are way out of my price range but it's nice to be able to look at them... especially in BGS 9.5's lol!

Many of you probably don't care about these types of cards but for the Jordan collectors this guy also has (2) 1997 PMG Red Jordan BGS 8.5's and the one and only BGS 9.5 which sold at auction for over 41,000 last year.

Personally, I admire people who volunteer, are good role models and give back.

If anyone on the registry fits that bill, then yes, I admire them.

i can understand that feeling. i have submitted nearly all of my favre's on my own. however, for some i preferred to obtain them already graded. i can fully understand why someone that is going after high value cards in high grade would only buy already slabbed cards. first off you know what you are getting. second, you are not running the risk of paying a high price for a card that comes back EOT. not to mention grading fees for high $ cards are not like the specials that rest of us part take in. on the economic side i can see why one might only purchase already PSA graded cards. for all we know he has tons of raw cards sitting at home too. more than likely he probably does or at least did at one point.

As a Ripken collector, I admire The O'Connor Collection. Kevin just has a huge quality collection of Ripken cards that I wouldn't even come close to matching.

Paul Holstein and Captain Jon Fischbaugh are two guys whose collecting habits I admire. They have been in the high grade Star Wars card collecting hobby for a long time and have personally built incredible collections.

I like the Transformers set in the non-sport section of the registry. It's really cool.

I admire Don Spence and his collection. Even though he has a lot of money, I can tell that he's put a lot of work into his collection. Since we are both working on the Ruth Master Set, I can see a lot of what he does. When he gets new Ruth cards that are not part of the set composition, he still submits the request to add a new slot to the set. In addition, when he gets cards graded by SGC, he crosses them over the PSA. (so yes, he does submit to PSA.) I have seen cards that he purchased at SGC 5 go to PSA Authentic, but he still goes ahead and adds that to his set. In addition, although he has plenty of money, I can see that he doesn't want to be gouged. There is this Sweetman Ruth card that has been listed by probstein at 65K for months upon months. That card is obviously look for a bid from Spence, but he hasn't been biting. That card was originally holdered by SGC, and sold for around $4-5K before it was crossed over to PSA.

There is a collector named terry53 on the registry. None of his sets are highly ranked. He just puts up respectable sets, completes them, and doesn't seem to care whether he is ranked #1 or #100. That's the way I would like my own collection to be someday.

Great post, CollectorAtWork. I'd like to add that Don is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
