DaveandAdams sale - if you need a modern junk fix

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up if you are looking to rip some modern junk, Dave and adams has a pretty good deal going but stuff is selling out pretty quick.

dacardworld march madness sale

I have ripped a couple of these and they are a pretty good deal at the normal $25, they are currently available for $17

2011 Score Footbal Retail Hanger

You will get a full set plus a ton of inserts. I've pulled an auto from one as well. This is Kaepernick and Cam Newtons rookie year.

These Topps retail boxes from the same year are also a pretty good buy at $30. Again, should make a complete set plus a ton of inserts.

2011 Topps

I only do football so can't recommend anything from baseball but I am sure there are some good deals to be had.

I have my concerns about DandA's. Bought a box, came 2 packs short. Bought a few other boxes and they had been either searched or were pieced together with portions from multiple boxes. Their S/H is great though, so there's that.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like some things are selling out fast.....

very sad that if someone jumped in a thread and posted 'I have some concerns about BBCE...' they would be burned at the stake.

BBCE isn't perfect, their S/H charges suck. I can get 5 wax boxes shipped to me from D&A for $4.50 less than it costs me to have one wax PACK shipped to me from BBCE.

But I've never had an issue with the quality of product from BBCE, whereas D&A is one for three in that department with me.

I only buy my vintage from bbce. As far as modern junk, almost all modern boxes are factory sealed so I don't really have concerns with tampering in that regard. I'll pretty much buy from whoever is cheapest.

Something from each major sport except basketball, and some oddball stuff (e.g. Soccer).

I rarely buy high end modern, so the 2011 Panini Limited Baseball Hobby Box (3 Autos or Memorabilia Cards Per Box!) was the big purchase. image

If anyone is looking for cheap, fun rip, especially with kids, I recommend the 2010 Upper Deck Baseball 36-Pack Box. You can spend a good hour on this box. You'll likely get 1 and maybe 2 Posey RC's, and there is typically a jersey card in there too. Lots of other inserts, etc. For $13, its hard to go wrong.

BTW, its free 3-day shipping with $100 purchase, and there is an active $5 coupon code.

I have also had issues with D&A wax including being sold a resealed 86 Fleer basketball pack and a resealed 1970 Topps football pack. BBCE might not be perfect but they don't ignore you when you contact them about receiving resealed garbage. I no longer buy any older unopened from them. For modern I doubt that it matters as most modern boxes come factory sealed.

  • They got me with a tampered/resealed modern case recently. Only Blowout for my modern needs nowadays. Buyer beware!

I buy from all the major on-line sellers. For cases I usually only buy from Blowout mainly because of pricing and my history with them. I do buy from BBCE when they auction football boxes.

I have bought only modern from D&A and I've been happy with the purchases. I think the comments about short or tampered boxes only apply to vintage, it can't be about the recent modern stuff since most of it is factory sealed.

I also buy from Atlanta Sportscard on occasion. I will probably avoid them going forward due to the quality of the older boxes that I purchased from them. One mid-1980's baseball box was torn open on one side even though the packs looked fine. I bought a bunch of early 2000's basketball boxes from them and a few of the boxes had a dings to varying degrees. I think the packs are fine, but the boxes themselves have some dents and rips.

I tried DCS and Pittsburgh Wholesale once each. DCS cut my order in half because they didn't update their website in time (last time I use them). PGW was OK, I would use them again for the right product.

    Can you provide more details?

That's a fairly strong accusation for one of the hobby's better known dealers.

I bought a good bit of stuff from D&A both on Black Friday and a few weeks ago.

Nothing "big" but plenty of smaller stuff like this sale has, and I was happy with my purchase on both occasions.

  • Hobby case, retail only auto's in some of the boxes. 3 identical redemptions in first three boxes. Overall shortage on base refractors by a TON, shortage on base chrome propect cards, ect. I think there were a total of 5 base chrome refractors in the entire case. Even if bad collation is to be blamed for the shortage on propects, refractors how can one explain the "retail only" auto's? Modern cases can be tampered, there really is almost nothing tamper proof nowadays i.m.o.
  • This was my first bad experience and I have purchased lots through them as well.

I ripped the 2011 Panini Limited Baseball Hobby Box (3 Autos or Memorabilia Cards Per Box) in case anyone interested. Actually had 4 hits.

    - Alan Trammell auto
    - Nellie fox gear card to 99 (uni and bat)
    - two random rookie autos, never heard of them
    - Dave Parker (first card in pack - i thought...uh oh)
    - Josh Hamilton
    - some random rc

can't complain, the Fox is pretty sweet, and I didnt have a trammell auto. for $38, that's not too bad. i saw some youtube rips with nothing to show at all.

Here's my haul from the sale. This pic is missing a few boxes as I ripped a couple before taking the picture. I ended up getting 5 of the Score 72-pack boxes, 4 of the Topps Rack boxes and a couple randoms. Kind of wish I had bought more but I used a $200 store credit I had so it was nothing out-of-pocket.

  • Dropped $700 with about $200 worth o0f pulls on stuff. Some of that product isnt worth half of what sale price is. Topps archives were neat but $15 worth of autos. Oh well.

If I was ever concerned with the price stuff I ripped or bought could sell for I'd probably quit collecting,

Ouch. I'm not familiar with the Archives. How much was the sale price? Any value in the base sets?

I've done really well so far. Ripped one box of the Topps and one of the Score.

The Bart Starr is a thick card with a replica of the 1967 Championship ring. These were super hot when they came out but now go for about $10-$15.

    image

These two went into my to-be-graded pile. The Kaepernick is the variation and sells for about $15 raw. The Rodgers is the Red Zone parallel which has a print run of 100. Neither have ever been graded by PSA.
