Does this pack look legit?

I'm far from an unopened pack expert, but I didn't see any obvious red flags, and at that price was worth a gamble (that was almost my max bid).

ask yourself. How could a flat pack get a wrinkle like that down the middle. And also fold marks/wrinkles on the back near the seal.

There's gum in the pack. Does that affect your view on fold lines or wrinkles?

what about the back of the pack where the seal is nice and flat with no gum. There are wrinkles there. And no the gum doesnt change my view.

Would need to hold pack in hand.

Hard to tell from a scan, but it looks suspect and is in less than ideal condition if it's for an unopened collection. Would grade EX 5 at best, if it grades at all.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

I agree with the others. When I see a wrinkle on the flat surface of an "unopened" pack, I run as fast as I can in the other direct.

I mean these look like they got run over by a truck and eaten by a rat. And they dont have a wrinkle like this pack does.

No back scans = no way Jose! Plus the front of the packs look like they survived a group of collectors turned zombies!
I collect vintage PSA graded SF Giants, Willie Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Marichal and Perry. And modern players like Buster Posey, Will Clark and Barry Bonds.

Before bidding on this pack, I looked at the other ones recently sold and at the feedback on those sellers (including positives with really ugly followup), and I decided I couldn't safely use any of those as an exemplar of a good pack.

Wrappers from this set alone often sell for $20 or over, so my downside risk isn't too great.

    I took a gamble.

  • This is why I dont touch unopened unless Steve Hart has seen it...too difficult and I have been burned too many times.
