fakes....easy to tell by looking at the scans.

Not sure why Archaninator would say that I'm constantly getting involved in these activities. This is the first time I have posted photos of any cards below 1975 for an opinion.

He must have me mistaken with someone else or he is just making a smart remark to me.

I did find a post where Archaninator remarked about my spelling on a 1981 card opinion.

The Cobb looks like the same one from this thread (the 2nd link in the first post).

One thing to look for on Dan Dees are tiny little perforations on each edge. On the Mantle card you posted the edges look smooth. The colors also seem a bit off on the card you posted. Here's the top edge from an authentic Mantle....

Thanks guys for the information you gave me for these 2 cards

mlbfan2 gave me the most valuable information. With the card in a SGC 1.5 holder in the article he referred to which looks exactly like the card I posted front and back is good enough for me to send into PSA and to see if the card is authentic or not.

If the card comes back not authentic I will personally shred it and put the card out of its misery so no one else waste any more money on this card trying to figure if it is fake.

    On the Coob.
The back under General looks to be a different shade of color. More white. That might have been where the reprint mark was rubbed off.

Yeah, he did. But you failed to understand it.

    meaning what?

  • << <i>meaning what? >>

Meaning it is the same exact counterfeit from the other thread.

From what I seen from the other thread the card in the SGC 1.5 appears to be the exact card in that holder, SGC in my opinion has a good reputation for grading cards but that is just my opinion.

No. The card in the SGC holder from the Heritage auction is real. The card in the PRO holder is a counterfeit that was created from the Heritage images. A line on the back was redrawn for the counterfeit. Your card is exactly the same as the counterfeit in the PRO holder. It's either the same exact card or several copies were created from the Heritage images.

Maurice, I understand what your saying. But I've got to find out for sure, the 2 cards are on there way to PSA so I should know next week if they are counterfeit I sent them in on a 2 day special. I'm hoping your wrong.
If your right I won't lose any sleep on it because I didn't pay a whole lot for the card. Thanks for your information.

When I bought the card it was not in a Pro holder it was in a plexiglass holder with 4 screw holding it together. This is why I'm have got to make sure before I destroy the card.

These 2 cards are definitely counterfeit. Like I said, if they come back counterfeit I'll shred these 2 so they will never reach the hobby again.
    Thanks guys for your input.
