15 yards, unsportsmanlike, taunting

This is one of the few cards I still need to complete my high-grade '70 Topps set. I have been stuck on 12 still needed for months. Now this pops up.

That's just flat-out mean. I'm willing to overpay for a nice copy of this card, but come on already.

deans=high prices.how is that an 8,i do not see a psa label
  • That is crazy. A PSA 8 sold for 35 a couples of days ago.
Looking for 1950 Bowman football PSA 7's
  • I realize this is America and it's his right to ask whatever he wants, but damn- this one hurt.

The funny thing is that if it were the LAST card I still needed, and I had been looking long enough for the one I like, I might actually do it. That's a great-looking card.

It suuuuure is. That's why it's so frustrating. I would absolutely love to have it for my set. But the only way I'm going to get it is if I'm willing to cough up 4-5X fair market value.

World'll keep on spinning, I suppose.

I love guys who arbitrarily attach a PSA grade to raw cards and then ask SMA prices. My favorite.

Anyone interested in my thousands of PSA 8-9 commons from the 60's and 70's? I mean, THOUSANDS!

I know with coins you cannot claim a numerical grade (as in PCGS) if you are listing a raw coin. The same rule ought to apply for raw cards, as well.

PSA does not hold a copyright on the number 8.

Anyone can use a 1-10 scale.

    Good for you.

    Steve,

PCGS doesn't hold a copyright on the numbers 1-70 either but listing a numerical grade for an ungraded coin is prohibited.

Frankly Tim my comment wasn't directed towards you but to the general
consensus that some here felt that Dean was using PSA standards which he was not.
In fact no where in his title or description does he mention PSA at all.

    Good for you.

Understood now. I misunderstood your post initially.

I do think though that ebay ought to be consistent with its application of the rule with regard to numerical grades for raw items.

I would imagine Dean looks something like this guy...

"All prices are final and we do not negotiate... Please do not ask us to negotiate on price."

Oy my lord. This was on the other night. Like always, I caught it 10 minutes in and couldn't turn it off. Then Fargo came on after it and I was up until 2 in the friggin morning. Two all timer "can't turn them off" movies. True Lies is the other one like that for me.

90% of the buying population won't grossly overpay for cards.
    10% will.
That's why some sellers stick to their guns.

Whereas 90% of the buying population that have had a few cold ones and are on eBay WILL grossly overpay (I can confirm this) and the other 10% will pass out on the keyboard before hitting the confirm button.

  • Nothing to add here from me, except I ask you to read my tag line and who I quoted.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.
