Opinions on this OPC Trottier PSA 10

I was going to put a snipe on this card even though the L/R centering isn't very thrilling, but this card is so tough.
Here's the auction.

After close inspection, I think I'm going to pass. This is what I see, and tell me if you agree or not. I think this card should be a 6.

The front has a surface wrinkle on the right side, and that ugly fisheye on the bottom.

The back has an indentation near the center. Corners are so-so, and don't know what that other thing is.

That looks wild for a PSA 10. Especially the dent on the back. I wonder what really nice 9's look like.

The card does have a few issues. I guess my question is, Are these normal for the Issue?

If 1976 OPC are known for these, I'm OK with it.

I have no clue who Bryan Trottier is, I'm not much of a Hockey Fan.

Looks like the back indentation us a spec on the scan, not the card. The top middle edge on back is the fray from the card itself, not chipping. IMO

    Thanks,

I looked for many years for a Trottier that nicely centered.

OK why does ever card look too small? They must have resized the well the card sits
in? Another thing I wish they would fix..

With all the issues you pointed out, I would definitely pass. You'd never be happy with the card if you bought it. I will say that there's no way you can say with certainty that a card has a surface wrinkle just by looking at a scan. I sent my Trottier 9 (it was a pop 2 with no 10's at the time) in for a bump a couple years ago. There's no way it isn't 10 worthy, but it didn't bump. That was the last straw in my attempts to play the bump game.

The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

How in the world can you see that surface wrinkle would be my question . . .

If your instincts say pass then pass

Is certainly a tough issue for sure.....back centering kinda kills me a little.
Surface wrinkle probablt not able 2 c with a scan.

  • I see a line/wrinkle on the right side. Clear to me. At least there's something definitely there.
Wonder if Rick would confirm. Still a nice card but not 10 worthy.
  • I wouldn't bid on that card. The bottom left corner on the back makes the card an 8.5
  • From my experience with the 76's, don't think that the back is an indent but rather lack of ink. On many of mine during the printing process little slivers of paper that shape and size were present for whatever reason during printing and blocked ink.
Been collecting these on SGC registry for a while and that was common.
  • Hard to say from a photo, which is why I would avoid bidding on a high dollar card online or at least bid only to the value of what the card may be.
I have bought a lot of cards that were marginal for the grade on ebay.
But, to be fair, I have received some that were stunning for the grade as well.
