Not much in that year to hit, the rookie pool is pretty week. Rookie cards of Stevens, Nicholls, Carbonneau, Housley and Naslund. Kind of an in between year for Hockey - Bourque, Messier, Francis, Fuhr, Hawerchuck the two years prior and Yzerman, Chelios, Neely, Lafontaine, Gilmour, Lemieux the two sets after.
The Gretzky #29 is probably the most valuable card that year. Also the #217 is killer hard and would bring some good coin right now. The #1 set just changed hands and the buyer was scooping up whatever cards he needed. Hence a lot of the sales lately. For the last couple years, most of the 10's in that set were selling for just above grading fees by companies like 4SC. In auction, prices would often be below grading costs. The last couple months has seen that change a bit. There is still a fair amount of 1983 wax out there. I've opened about 10 boxes and I still haven't got a 10 from PSA so I gave up. My raw cards looked like 10's but they all came back as 9's with the odd 8 so I just took them out of the holder and put them back in my raw set.
OK, just opened my 4 packs. My plan was to grade 2 of the packs and open 2, but the packs weren't worth grading (wrappers way off center and almost seemed like they were exposed to dampness). Cards were a disaster, gum seeped through sometimes 3 cards deep, corners were bent. But I don't have any OPC cards of any sport, and certainly no 1983 hockey at all, so the cards will remain in my hockey collection.
Just my 2 cents having bought OPC hockey from BBCE previously the gum issues have been much more significant compared to buying through local sources. probably a coincidence just struck me as odd, maybe our cooler Canadian climate is good for something lol

PSA 10 OPC Hockey Sales 1983
Several over $100 and some over $50
Maybe time for me to go through my '83 set and see if anything is worth submitting.
