Notoriously Difficult Cards of HOF's in High Grade Condition
![ClockworkAngel](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/authoricons/burgerking.jpg)
Just looking over the Pop Reports, wanted to see what everyone has come up with. I am talking about PSA 9 or higher where the player is a HOF or big name and the card is extremely difficult in relation to the rest of the set. Not the Jackson Todd in 1978 or a Nolan Ryan 1971 because all 71's are difficult.
Here's what I mean:
1969 Topps Lou Brock 4 PSA 9's out of 569-less than 1%. The 1969 set as a whole is 15% PSA 9 or higher
1976 Topps George Brett 10 PSA 9's out of 1240 less than 1%. The 1976 set gives you over 40% PSA 9 or higher
1986 Topps Steve Young 70 out of 4,272 almost 2%. The set is at 30%
What else can you add?

71 Munson (unless we are discounting all 71s, but I'd venture this is tough even relative to that set's norm)
75 Mini Ryan #500 (the real pop of untrimmed examples is way lower than stated) and the #5 HL (many aren't ever sent in due to severe OC issues)
Maybe 68 Ryan RC and Reggie 69 RC
How about the 1985 Merchante Michael Jordan? Huge HOF athlete, early career issue, and a TOTAL pop 12 with only one 8.5 and one 8.
Maybe I'm only going after the obvious ones.

I dont disagree with the concept, but do remember, that most of the rest of the set is only submitted when high grade. Rookies/Stars like this tend to have more low grade submissions due to there generally collectivity since they are rookies.

886 graded by PSA, only 4 are PSA MINT 9, no 10's.
i think most of us are aware of the inherent difficulties in finding even a nice mid-grade example.
anyone care to find the 5th PSA 9 example and show it off here, thereby you become an instant celebrity.
good luck one and all.
Bobby Orr 66 Topps - 1 PSA 9/449 graded
Bobby Hull 58 Topps - 2 PSA 9/253 graded
Gordie Howe 51 Parkhurst - 1 PSA 9/332 graded
1971 Munson is a GREAT one 4 out of 1540 .25% compared to 6,300 out of 212,000-3%

Good point, but looking at the '69 Brock as an example, look at the other big names Reggie, Aaron, Rollie Fingers, Nolan Ryan, Rose, etc are all much higher percentages of 9's. Seaver is also a tough one in that set 15 out of 1,587 less than 1% as well!

<< <i>1973 Yaz and Morgan >>
That 1973 Yaz is freaking impossible. I would bet that all the PSA 9's that exist are OC on the back. The one I owned for awhile was almost miscut on the back.
1973 Carl Yastrzemski Topps is 19 PSA 9's (no 10's) out of 509 submitted (3.7%). Not sure what the set average is.

The Young is not more difficult in high grade than the Burkett from that set.

The Hulk Hogan card is very tough for sure but the Andre The Giant is even more difficult.

And some of the 33 Goudey Ruths in PSA 9. The #53 Ruth, I dont think I've ever seen that in mint 9.
