Just made my VERY first purchase with BBCE Sunday! (Updated with Pics 1982 Fleer Wax Box))

Well I am mostly a reader on this forum, and I've seen a lot of awesome things said about BBCE. So I ran over to the site Sunday and purchased a 1982 Fleer Baseball Unopened Wax Box. Whenever it arrives my 2 boys and I will pop it open and I will post my finds!

Edit: So now we are half way through the box and below are some of the finds! I found the Ripken in the 3rd pack and Ryan in the 5th pack opened!

Edit: All done!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    Congratulations John!

Hope ya pull a nice centered Ripken.

I remember like it was yesterday - and it was over 20 yrs ago that I opened cards with my son - went to card shops - flea markets - good times.

    Good luck!

Well, you figure 36 packs x 15 makes 540 cards out of 660 in the set, so you have about a 81.8% chance of getting a Ripken. Good luck!

Besides the obvious Ripken, what others should I be looking for in the RIP?

Well centered HOFers...looks like Nolan is a $50-$60 card in PSA10, other HOF like Yount, Brett, Yaz look like $35+

    ...or a Littlefield Reversed Negative.

I've tried, on multiple occasions, to get my kid interested in baseball cards to no avail.

However, recently, he and 5 or 6 of the boys at school became enamored of football cards. So, maybe we will rip some blasters for fun.

Thanks for the info! We just ripped the box open a few minutes ago. Pulled a Ripken on the 3rd pack and a Nolan Ryan on the 5th pack. I'll post some pics half way through.

Well the RIP was pretty fun! My boys are ages 9 and 5 so they lost interest after the first 8 packs. After my youngest opened the packs I gave him, he asked "Daddy I'm gonna mail all my cards to the plastic place so they will be worth lots of money!" Made me a proud daddy! Well I am going to head over to BBCE and look for something else!

Congrats on having some fun with your kids (and for getting some nice stars in the process).

Greay way to get the next generation started!

    +1

  • Opening packs with your boys are great father/son times. Enjoy every minute.

Nice job John. It is great to do stuff with your kids although ripping open packs is not one I encourage in my house. image
