Can ANYONE Explain How a 1957 PSA 8 Mantle (new flip) Sells on Ebay for More than $5K????

This number is in OUTER SPACE!

1957 Mantle

It's a $3k-$3.5k card up until now. Yes the centering is there and the borders are white, but it's in a new flip. They are not likely to bump it to an 8.5, and if they
did it would then be about a $5K card, no?

Or could we be seeing the beginning of a high-end star card pop????

Thoughts?

That IS a fine looking 8.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

If a 8.5 goes for what they paid and the card looks to be a high end 8. Maybe they are just buying what they like and not worried what the case says.

It's always good to see two guys going after a card. No comment.

The third place bidder was at $2522. So it was two dudes battling it out all the way to 5k.
Without one of those guys, the Mantle might have sold for $2600 , although
    other bidders might have emerged.

Pretty nice looking card, but I bet the corners are only '8' quality and it wouldn't
    bump higher because of that.

This Mantle sold last night for $325.00 less then what Probstein sold mine for about a year or two ago.

    Pretty nice one
