Removing Scotch Tape Residue?

I recall some members posting techniques to remove scotch tape and/or its residue from cards. I just acquired a 1960's set that is beautiful except for the scotch tape on about 30 cards.

Also would PSA grade cards if there is discoloration present? If a card had the corners and centering of an 8, how low do you think it would score with discoloration ( not paper loss ) present?

This would be great to know as I have 52 Bowman's with tape residue on Campanella, Reese, Mantle/Bauer/Berra, and a couple others.

If they are sent in as is, would they come back with a (ST) qualifier or just authentic? The cards themselves would probably grade between a 4-6 without the marks.

Not a pro by any stretch, but I've used Bestine solvent with a q-tip at the recommendation from someone here...Had some success, but think my 53' Satchel Paige was a tough case as it didn't remove it all.

Rubber Cement Thinner, but wouldn't try grading, PSA may pick up the alteration.

If PSA catches your alteration, they will not grade your card, or it will get an "authentic" grade = PSA1.

After not much thought at all, I've opted to leave my cards as they are, not worth it to risk messing them up. There's some charm to the stain left behind too I spose.
