Most profitable raw purchase to graded card last 12 monts

What single raw card purchase from Ebay that you ultmately got graded, was most proftable for you?

Mine was nothing special - 1928 Amatller Chocolate Gene Tunney purchased for $18 graded PSA 6 and sold off Ebay for $175.

Hoping to hear of some .99 purchases that turned around nicely.

I have a few but I've kept most of them for my PC.

'92 Bowman Mariano Rivera RC for I think around $11, graded a 9. Those go for $70-100.
'06 Topps Verlander and Fielder RCs for a buck or so. Both graded a 10.
'08 Goudey Graphs signed Chipper Jones. Graded a 10, no idea on value as there are only two graded and it's the only 10.
2.5 is pretty much my speed.

thanks CUDA backatcha on the flea market Ryan RC. image
  • Profitable? I always end up breaking even at best once grading and shipping fees are added in.

I bought a raw 57 Topps Johnny Unitas for $275 (from a card shop), it graded a BVG 7. I haven't sold it and don't plan to, but I'm sure I increased the value significantly.

A few years ago from the same card shop, I bought a 67 Topps Mantle PSA 7 for $127, and I think I could probably get around $275-$300 (the centering is bad).

I would say JustinsShoeBox has a card that could win. Not quite the % increase but a greater overall return.

  • Don't know why I forgot about this. I bought a raw 1985 Mario Lemieux OPC sticker for $25 and his other sticker from that same set for $5. Subbed them both and they both got 10s. The main one was 1/1 the other 1/2. I sold the pair for $1200. The guy who bought them was still asking about double that on ebay about a month ago.

I don't sell what I pick up - and haven't done a PSA sub in years.

    From a sub - here's a card I paid 45 bucks - and came back a 6 - very nice card IMO.

    Some other nice buys:

    1. 75T mini Ryan #500 - traded for 30 bucks - PSA 9.

    2. 61F BKB #46 Baylor IA - 30 bucks - PSA 9.
