Just picked up a collection yesterday based on photos sent to me. Cards should arrive next week. Champing at the bit. Several are obvious graders, but on the fence about these because of various flaws. Most likely will grade the Mantles no matter what, but wondering what you all think is likely best and worst these will do. 53 has a pretty bad wound on right border and 54 seems to have gum stain in parallel lines on front.

Obviously, Aaron not in great shape. Kaline really nice except the corner crease.

Kaline = PSA 5
Aaron = PSA 3
54 Mantle = PSA 5 (?, hard to tell from the scan)
53 Mantle = PSA 3 (or PSA 1 if that's a rip on the upper right edge)

The Banks is just as nice, but no creases, but thinking I'm hanging onto that for my HOF rookie (raw) collection.

Kaline = 4
Aaron = 1 (Bad centering and the creases kill it. I have a few 54s that have great centering and similar creases that live in PSA 1 holders...though they are the 1954 Canadian variety.)
54 Mantle = 5
53 Mantle = 1

If that Mantle is a 1 I won't sub. anything with tjat sort of flaw on border automatically a 1?

Heh, the creases on the Aaron actually distracted me from the bad centering. 2 or less.

If it destroys the dimension of the card, be it a tear or dent, you're looking at a pretty low grade card.

Even as a 1 it will still sell. I'd grade it anyway.

I don't think that is a gum stain on the '54 Mantle, just typical 50's Bowman print lines. I have a partial '51 Bowman set and they are all over the place. If you're interested in selling it without grading after you get them, shoot me a message. I've always liked that card.

Just got the email. The 1954 Mantle got a 3. WTF? No creases or wrinkles. The 53 got a 3 MC. Miscut? What? Very confused.

Aaron = PSA 1.5
54 Mantle = PSA 5
53 Mantle = PSA 2 with MK on sholder PSA 2 MK But hope for a straight PSA 1

handyman - the grades i just posted are what i actually received. there isn't a mark on th 53, by the way. responded to this post b/c cannot figure out how the 53 is MC (for a 3). just doesn't calculate.

Post the full grades if you can.
Be happy with the 1953 If im reading right. It looks like it has a pencil mark on the sholder that should get a MK grade.

Did the 53 get a MC or MK grade?

Look at the scan . There is a SL written on this sholder. Or a pie sign like thing, cursive r? regular n. Wiggle line thing. written on it

do see that, but don't remember it. think it was a hair on the glass on scanner. will see when i get back. if it was in fact a mark, seems PSA wrote the wrong qualifier. will follow up. pretty sure it is not on card. we'll see...

Its also very OC tb so that could also justify the MC. Eitherway The grade seems to fit.

p.s. the Kaline is not the one that I scanned. I kept that one and sent my other one in, since this one had a corner crease, and that sort of thing dosn't bug me. thought the mays as good as the robinson, but i'm not complaining. the mantles is what is bugging me. maybe they gave the 54 a 3 because of the print lines, but i would have expected a 5 PD. didn't specify no qualifiers. very confusing returns.

Guidelines say 90:10 or better for a 3. Not worse than that is it? Not just OC but MC?

If its that close to where you need to pull out a ruler then it can go either way. its very OC TB.

and the card isnt a perfect square from the image. Makes my eyes move. I think PSA got it right. And I think they gave you an extra number to be fair.
