Pcgs Invitational

There was a constant buzz in the room yesterday. Today is the day for the Legend Morphy auction. There was a constant flow of lot previewing going on yesterday. I viewed the 1879 proof set (great trade dollar!), the 1896 dollar (9 color) and the 1923-S Peace dollar (NOT Duckor, 10 color).

Spent from 11 to 4 at the show. Lunch was excellent, and almost high end, with chicken, fish(good sauces),
    and spinach salad.

All there were serious about buying and selling. I sold a bust quarter, memo-ed an early $5, and sold a rare(condition) $20 Saint.

Viewed all coins in the Legend Morphy sale, and on the way to the auction. Almost all have met or exceeded reserves, so the consignors should be happy.

Found 2 very high end CBH's, but are NGC holdered. The dealer and I agreed to try to cross them, and then we will see if they are to be bought.

I have now attended about 5 of these shows, and this one was the best by far. The local show put on by the LV coin clubs has attracted more collectors and dealers
and that has increased attendance at both venues.

More after the auction tonight, or a report tomorrow.

One of the few shows I would like to attend away from the east cost. That and a long beach is on my to-do list after my last round of diapers and 24-7 whinny demands subsides a little.

I wish I could have been able to go!

Work got a little too intense, my daughter's Basketball season has started - I'm coach.

For those of you that are really into coins, its a great show. Much different that what you are used to, its much smaller and intimate. Not small like a 20 table show at the Elk's Lodge in Wauwaka, Kansas, but small with everyone that is attending is REALLY into coins

Kinda like going to a party with 10 people instead 200. I seem to have more fun at the 10 person parties.

I certainly will attend at least 1 more PCGS Invitational show this year.

We look forward to seeing everyone there.

P.S. I prefer 10 person parties as well. image

Was a great show, very busy, bought a few coins. I'm at the club show now, also very busy - look for my show report for both shows on Sunday or Monday.

One of these fine days, our host will be huge enough to bring these invitationals around to venues that many more of us could get to. Like maybe The Big Apple, or St. Louis, or Chicago...just sayin'. image
