How do you ship your cards for submission?

I was wondering how people package cards to PSA. Do you put the card in pennysleeve and then in a CardSaver or do some people just put the card directly in the CardSaver? Seems like PennySleeve is just an added step that could add damage to the card (corners or edges during insertion and removal into the penny sleeve). When I have done it in the past it also makes it harder to put the card in the CardSaver with a penny sleeve (more added stress to the card may not hurt but certainly can't help). What are some veteran submitters opinions on pennysleeves for submission: necessary or optional? recommended or not recommended? Thanks.

  • I use a penny sleeve and the large size card savers. I was damaging my cards with the small card savers.
I've also used penny sleeves in hard sleeves which seems to offer the most protection and easy to put in and get out.
PSA does not recommend them though - not sure why not.

Always use penny sleeves when storing or submitting cards!

I put the cards in a penny sleeve. I just cut the seem about a 1/2" down with scissors so I don't damage the corners.

  • I use two junk cards in sleeves to open up the sleeve and act as guides to the "good" card which I slide between them into the open sleeve.

Use a penny sleeve every time!! Take an exacto knife and cut an inch long slit in either side of the sleeve so that you can slip the card in with zero chance of damage.

Then put your sleeved cards into Card Saver 1s.

Finally, I use non-static bubble bags from Uline. A stack of about 20-25 cards fits perfectly into one pouch. Roll it up and seal it up and you can be sure your cards are safe. PSA has told me in person they wish more people would use those. You can find them here.
  • Penny sleeve and card saver 1 for me
The card wedge into the card saver and the slice the seam move on the penny sleeves are AWESOME!!!
Have nicked a few bottom edges within razor sharp penny sleeves
    Phenomenal suggestions

I usually put 8-10 in a Kraft-Air image bubble envelope, but I like your idea better.

I always use pennysleeve and Cardsaver 1

Thanks for the tips on the pennysleeve. Just putting some cards in pennysleeves from my personal collection (not to be graded) I know I have nicked some corners and edges so I stopped using them. I will use the tips mentioned here. Thanks everyone.
