For coin photos? Looks like it could be good for macro.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he means "green" as in environmentally friendly (I.E. natural sunlight).
Sunlight isn't optimal as it hides hairlines.

renomedphys showed us some amazing photos using one a while back. Small cents, if I remember right.
It's another tool in the toolbox that may come in handy some day.

While those are nice photos I don't think they are better than what you can get with overhead lighting. I've seen some ring lighting that was superb.

Same here! And it was a $200 item that attached right on the camera. Wiped out all 3D effects, took it back same day.
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
