What's a "snipe bid"?

Any bid made in the last few seconds of
an auction. It doesn't have to be from
a sniper program, you can do it manually.

The point is to get your bid in without
giving enough time before the auction
ends for someone else to see your bid
and try to top it.

That's pretty much what I do Everytime I bid on an item. Is this method frowned upon or something?

It's not frowned upon. Sniping is the way to bid. I'd recommend gavelsnipe.com.

People that don't snipe sometimes get upset about it.
