Do you think that SMR uses VCP as a Guide when Pricing?

I was comparing my cards values in SMR Vs. VCP and after everything was added up, SMR was only about $100 off with everything totaled. Thats actually not too far off from the "real" selling average.

Maybe, but they are really not very up to date. Not a real money maker for them.

  • I actually beg to differ and say that SMR is as close to as it can get for prices that are consistently changing. I was actually quite surprised. Remember, VCP is constantly updating which is giving us more "real time pricing" (although I can tell you for sure that they miss auctions/listings) as to were SMR only updates certain sets/years about every 2-4 weeks.

SMR updating sets every 2-4 weeks? dream on. And if your prices matched it's because the roller coaster of highs and lows equals out in the end, not because of accuracy. SMR is one man's vision of what he thinks card prices should be.

Joe is very conservative on how he prices things.

In the section Price Swings it makes it clear that they do not change the guide based on a few auction results.

You could always run some numbers on PSA 6 or PSA 7 1948 Leaf Football and get a chuckle...
