You here this term used during baseball's offseason.
Does anyone know the answer?
I assume it derives from baseball fans of the 19th century huddling around a wood burning stove during the middle of winter talking about the next baseball season to come in the spring, while warming their hands around the sides and top of the stove and tossing back a few shots of Wild Turkey or a few beers.
