Snow days and Lincoln cents

I just read the thread asking if you still had your childhood collection. I do and this brought to mind how we found a lot of the Lincoln cents. This was in the late 50's and we had an Aunt that worked at the local bank. She knew we collected "pennies" and told Dad that the guy that owned the penny gum ball machines would bring the pennies to the bank. They put them in $25 bags. On snow days Dad would go to town and get 2-4 bags. We would sit around a cardtable and go through them. We each had a cup for keepers. One thing that we had fun doing was to put a big magnet in the bag and see how many steel cents would stick to it. ( We never found a 1909-S or 14-D) The only coin I bought before high school was a 38 Buffalo nickel for 10 cents from a kid on our baseball team.
