    Dunno, but it certainly looks like there is somethin' peekin' up over that 3, doesn't it.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    Doesn't match the Briggs diagnostic but it probably is a 1853/854. You should also see some doubling of the right arrow shaft which does appear in your photo.

    Can you post the entire coin...perhaps someone can make the call then.

    That is not the 1853/4 die. Could you try a few more photos with a bit more light? That one is a bit out of focus.
