One small sub, one very big poppage - Spanish Jordan rookie

For those of you who collect Jordan cards, or random foreign cards like myself - you know how tough these cards are to find without some sort of back damage. I'm pretty excited about this one.

NEAR MINT 7 1985-1986 MERCHANTE CAMPEONATO BALONCESTO LIGA 173 M. JORDAN RED BACK

WOW - a "PSA 5" (which is the highest one I could find with a price on it) sold the other week for $350.00!!!!

Edited to add: Too bad this card is not on the Jordan Registry!

    Thanks, Jason!

Doug - that PSA 5 was my card, as well. I have a PSA 7 MC that'll be going to auction soon. I'm just really excited about pulling a straight PSA 7 on this one.

AWESOME Jeff ... what do you think the "straight 7" would go for?

Very nice Jeff - could you post it when it arrives?

@Doug - That's a great question. A PSA 8.5 (the highest graded) "blue back" version sold last year for over $2K. The blue backs appear to be a little harder to find according to the PSA pop report, and mine is a red back. However, there's only one red back that grades higher than my PSA 7.

@Stone - You got it. I'll be happy to share, once it arrives!

Very nice hit. Feels good when you get those kind of pops..

I have this one I submitted last year. Very under rated card IMO...

I was also able to have this one pop a few months ago...........It is a 1 of 1........... However, if you look in the pop reports there is a single PSA 9. When psa first started grading this issue a few years ago, the labeled them as "hand cut". Well someone decided to pull the wool over psa's eyes and "trim" a bunch of these hand cut cards down to get high grades. PSA finally figured out that these were not hand cut and took that wording off the label. So the only PSA 9 out there has super skinny borders. I remember when it hit ebay but I failed to save the scan to prove it.

So that makes this the highest graded with full boarders....... Enjoy....

Here is how PSA used to grade them (this 7 used to belong to me also)

    Thanks guys!

@Dave - great cards! I like the looks of the '86 Merchante much better than the '85s, but they seem to be a little more plentiful. That Robinson card is fantastic.

I just picked it up from the PO Box today. With only one of these graded higher (a PSA 8), I'm definitely excited about this one!

BTW - any snow on this card is from my scanner - the surface is actually nice and clean.

    Thanks for letting me share.

I didn't realize the sizes varied that significantly.

Compared to a normal sized card? Or compared to the 1986 Merchantes (like the David Robinson that was posted)?
