How much does the snow in the background affect the grade?

I am thinking this is a 7 but with the white in the hat would it be a pd qualifier?

7 at best. Possibly a 6. Pay be better with an 8PD assuming the card is unaltered with no hidden flaws.
  • Its really a coin toss. Very strong card with that kind of centering though. You may get PD as others have suggested and I would rather get a 5 or a 6 any day rather than an 8 with a PD imo. I personally would pass up on it because getting a qualifier will reduce the price MORE than half the real value of whatever grade it comes back as if it were without the qualifier.

    Nice card...

Be careful of that bottom right corner though.

Possibly a 5 if it's bent or more severly creased on the corner. I'd pass on it if I were you.

Great Question. Could it have been graded with a qualifier and the seller now cracked it out in hopes getting more money for it raw and letting the new person also get the qualifier.

Just pass and look for a better one - how about a graded one and that way you don't have to even worry about its authenticity.

I would question why someone is selling a card raw if they have a bunch of graded stuff in their store. But he is just selling a bunch of miscellaneous sports memorabilia with a couple of cards. So I wouldn't worry too much that the card has been busted out of a graded case or has a hidden problem.

There are a lot of people out there that don't like grading and prefer cards raw. I only grade cards to resell them. I have very few graded cards in my personal collection.

+1 A 55 year old card that pack-fresh sharp just screams to be in a PSA slab. The fact it isn't would make me leery of plopping down that much $. How would you feel if you bought it, sent it to PSA or SGC and it came back AUTH / EOT / Altered? Pretty bad, I suppose . . .

I agree. Without the print dots I don't think you could ever get a "7" with that bottom right corner. The seller has the starting bid at a "PSA 6.5" price. NO WAY that card gets a 6.5.
