What are your favorite movies featuring baseball cards?

I recently saw a movie on Netflix called "Fred and Vinny" where the guy is always with his binder of baseball cards. Mask and Rain Man stick out from my childhood the most.

Cop Out (originally A Couple of Dicks) is 2010 American action comedy film directed by Kevin Smith, written by brothers Mark and Robb Cullen, and starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan. The plot revolves around two longtime NYPD partners (portrayed by Willis and Morgan) on the trail of a stolen, rare, mint-condition baseball card who find themselves up against a merciless, memorabilia-obsessed violent gangster. This is the first film that Smith directed for which he did not write the screenplay.

[Kevin's shipment of baseball cards come in]
Kevin Franklin: The entire 1994 baseball season, know what I'm saying? I got Ken Griffey Jr. here, Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco. People spend big money for baseball cards, but if they get hurt, it's even worth more money! Say one of them's going to the car after the game, gets hit - pow! I don't wanna see it happen, but if it does, I'm getting paid!
  • I recently saw a movie called DIMINISHED CAPACITY (with Alan Alda and Mathew Broderick). Apparently the father has this old baseball card (never really said what it is, but it looks like a Tobacco style card). In the film they go to a card show, similar probably to the National where everyone that sees it remarks on how amazing the condition is. I laugh because what they went through, the card would not have survived its apparent mint condition some people were claiming it as. I would be curious what others on this forum thought about how the hobby is represented in this film.

There was a Stephen King movie, I think it was "It", that featured a flashback to childhood with kids flipping cards. I think they were 1969s. As a side note, the movie 'Brewsters Millions" orginally planned to use an old pack of baseball cards instead of the upside down stamp. I recall an auction of movie props where the pack was being auctioned off. It was a cello pack that was assembled for the movie and not an authentic unopened pack. It had a stamp of the movie studio on it which was kind of neat.

Not sure of the specifics, but Pride of the Yankees. Gehrig as a kid playing ball in a sandlot. Someone had what looked like some tobacco cards. Not accurate but I believe the name Ruth was mentioned. At the time of filming, cards were about as old as '82 Topps are nowimage

  • Not really a Baseball card movie but I remember in the 1989 Movie Major League that Pedros Cerranos character (The big guy who couldn't hit the curve ball and always prayed to his little statue "Jobu") had a Roberto Clemente card taped up in his locker behind Jobu.

They never said what year or brand, but it was a Frank "Wildfire" Schulte tobacco card "in mint condition"....that was supposed to be worth $800k.

This was the card Mikey pulled out of Chester Copperpot's wallet. The scavenger who carried a Lou Gehrig card in his wallet....and the man who was believed to have disappeared in 1935. Apparently Goudey reprints were a bit tough to come by in 1985/6.

Sandlot for me. yeah, Ruth comes in a dream to Benny the Jet Rodriguez and asks if he can take the '54 Aaron with him...he says something like "I kinda like this kid"....there were also bb cards pinned up on the wall in their tree fort.
