1998 Finest question

I don't have much modern but picked up a Moss rookie with protective coating . My question is do I keep coating on when graded or peel off? I have seen both ways but checking to see what others would do. Thanks for any help.

  • My understanding is that it's harder to get a good grade with the peel so high grades with the peel sell for more than the same grade without it.
  • I say peel away. The way I see it the film is to protect the card, your slabbing it and it will be protected forever. Tha being said, some people like them in the original form. I think the film takes away from the beauty of the cards. Take 1996 Select Certified for example, many people dont realize they have a film on them also. Peel those babies and they shine like you wouldnt believe.

1990's refractors are my collecting focus.

I can say unequivocally that there is NO premium associated with leaving the peel on, particularly if the card is graded.

It will almost certainly grade higher and look better if peeled so take the peel off.

Peel it. I just peeled a Moss that will go into my next sub. Submitted a Manning unpeeled that came back a 9 in January, wish I had peeled it, so cloudy looking in the holder with that film on it.

    Appreciate today-

  • After you peel it, make sure you wipe away any fingerprints on surface. I have had chrome cards come back PSA 9 ST. Cracked and resubbed and got 10s
