A while ago I cracked open 21 packs from a 1975 Topps mini wax box. I submitted a bunch of the stars and rookies and a few commons that I thought may have a shot at glory. Here are the final results (all 15 cards that I submitted. I also subbed 15 sealed packs that I'm waiting on).
The big 4: Very happy with the 8.5 on the Ryan. A 9 would have gone a long way towards paying for the whole box. The Brett is what it is and even though I am collecting HOFers from this set in PSA 8, I will keep this Brett in the collection and not seek an 8. I expected the Yount to come up a little light due to the T/B centering. Still a nice card.
Next group: I really thought the Carlton had a shot at a 9. I understand this is a tough card for 1975 minis. Happy to add the 8 to my collection. I forgot the Schmidt was a gum card (hence the "ST" qualifier). I already have an 8 in the collection but this card looks just as nice. May eventually sell the 8.
The balance of the cards are ones where I was hoping to maybe score a 10 somewhere. I went through the 200 or so cards I opened and narrowed them down based on centering, corners, surface, etc. All in all, not a bad sub.
