Smaller card set!

What set would you guys recommend to go after signed that are smaller? Im thinking of doing one that is like 30-50 cards in the set, it can be any sport. I would also be more interested in it if it was current.

    1975 Topps mini's are smaller.

Topps micro are even smaller than smaller and would look awesome signed, maybe Jeters RC year 1993, about 800 cards in the set.

I wasnt talking about the size of the cards, I was talking about the size of the set and the number of cards
  • One of the 80's 5x7 sets would look fantastic IMO...

The plus is that the 1984 set is only 30 cards and the 1985 and 1986 sets are only 60 cards. The other plus is that the cards are huge and display really well in the two per page ultra pro pages or in a psa holder. They would look amazing signed IMO. Another plus is the cards are dirt cheap(though the 1986 set only comes along every so often on ebay).

The negative is that the sets are chock full of superstars so things could get pricey.

Are you sure thats not what you meant?

Theres nothing wrong with having small cards, a lot of guys do.

I have no idea on current sets but some of my appeal in collecting the wrestling all star sets is that there is only 36 cards per set although a lot of those guys are no longer with us. I'm sure there are more modern sets to collect that are signed.

The cards have increased significantly in value for high grade issues but you can run across some lots of some major stars for a fair buying amount. A search of wrestling all stars on ebay and you should be able to see how much cards go for. If you wanted to go for everything it is 108 cards but that is pretty much impossible to locate as The Grand Wizard died in 1983 and there are some that would go for a huge amount if they surfaced like Andre the Giant. I would have to see how many of the guys that are deceased but it is a fair amount for a set from the 1980s, of course wrestlers or managers can participate in wrestling far past other athletes prime playing years and then there is the whole short life span of wrestlers with steroid abuse, etc. I have been working on this set for a few years and it is a lot of fun.

1951 Baseball Red Back or Blue Back set of 52 cards. Vintage and would be a challenge.
1963 Fleer, Clemente would be $$$.
YOu could do a 1970-71 Baseball Topps Super Set.
1988-89 Fleer BK or 1987-88 Fleer BK.
    1970 Topps Super Football Set.
A lot of the 1960s Hockey sets are rather small as well.

    A few you might enjoy?

i have used the larger donruss diamond king sets for autos. they do look sharp on them.

the real question i think that many on here have is what are you really looking for. if you want company signed cards you could go after the 96 and 97 Inscriptions Football sets. Not too many cards. All can be found on ebay. A few HOFers in there so some prices are higher, but not too extreme. for company sets there are quite a few out there. if you are looking to get the cards signed after market then maybe look at the old fleer boxed insert sets or the smaller insert sets in the packs or factory boxes. the only thing with them is that they have more HOFers as a % and some might be dead by now.

1976 Topps Wonder Bread Football All-Star Set

This would be a cool set, only 24 cards, but I know a couple guys are dead (Upshaw & Tatum) so you would have to acquire some that are already signed.

    1 Craig Morton
    2 Chuck Foreman
    3 Franco Harris
    4 Mel Gray
    5 Charley Taylor
    6 Rich Caster
    7 George Kunz
    8 Rayfield Wright
    9 Gene Upshaw (dead)
    10 Tom Mack
    11 Len Hauss
    12 Garo Yepremian
    13 Cedrick Hardman
    14 Jack Youngblood
    15 Wally Chambers
    16 Jerry Sherk
    17 Bill Bergey
    18 Jack Ham
    19 Fred Carr
    20 Jack Tatum (dead)
    21 Cliff Harris
    22 Emmitt Thomas
    23 Ken Riley
    24 Ray Guy

I have always thought it would be the neatest thing in the world to have a 1964 Topps Giants Set completely signed. There is not that many cards in the set, but there are some tough ones including Clemente. It would be expensive, but not impossible.

Have you considered putting together one of the sets where there were manufacturer certified autos of every player?
