Unusual Mintmark on 1909-S Lincoln

It is an odd location, and just strange.

Altered? Blundered? In any event I like the coin.

    Could be a new category...like 92435

There is one genuine 1909-S die known with the S low and to the right.

I'd like to see a microscope photo of the "S". It appears to have a speck of some foreign material underneath it, which bothers me. That would be just awful if NGC missed a bad coin with a glued-on mintmark.

Like Captain Henway said, this is a known mintmark position. I have it as position 7, very low,
tilted right, and the right edge of the 'S' even with the outer right edge of the '0' in the date.

Not sure of the rarity im comparison to the other positions, but I do not see it very often.

This looks close. The second image is from coinfacts. But it's hard to say. OP's first image is not square.

I wish I had better imaging capability.
Here's the pic of the NGC back sticker, and another of the obverse.

I purchased this from a very reputable national dealer a few years back (pre-CAC).
