  • I remember as a kid looking up Indians players in the Cleveland white pages. Never had the nerve to call them. And that funeral home is right next to a really good German restaurant.

    RIP Mr. Demeter.

I was just looking up Mr. Demeter on Google and noticed that in 1960 the Indians traded first-baseman/outfielder Norm Cash to the Tigers for third-baseman Steve Demeter.

Cash would win the AL batting crown a year later with a .361 average and had a great 14-year run with the Tigers including a WS and divisional championship (while the Indians got nothing during those years).

Demeter had only 5 ABs for the Indians, hit .000 and was out of the big leagues for good one month after the trade.

I guess one scout got a raise and the other got fired! LOL
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • My family lives in Parma, Brooklyn, Seven Hills, Brecksville, etc. I spend a lot of time up and down Pearl and Broadview when I'm in town. Matter of fact, one of my cousins is Brett Tomko, of the many Tomkos who live in the area. I think he grew up in California though.

    "Das Schnitzel Haus"

I think the German Club at my high school (Medina) would go there for a annual dinner.

    RIP

I've actually been to that funeral home several years ago for my friend's father, but I live down in Stark County.

    yup, that's the place!!
  • I went to grade school at the church his funeral service is being held. Rocky Colavito and Roger Maris went to the same church back in 1957. Maris lived two streets over from where I lived.

Had no idea Steve Demeter lived in the area.
