1951 Bowman Football Population

The 1951 Bowman population increased by almost 200 cards since last September (4 months) of which 68 graded 8 or higher (including one 10). A little disconcerting given these cards are now 62 years old. Is this a common occurence and does anyone know where these cards came from?
