SOme advice

What do yall think I should do. I sold an item a long time ago 3 years ago. Paid insurance for the item and the guy said he never recieved it. I lost the case even though It showed being shiped and delivered to the buyer. Also I was unable to cash in my insurance bc the post office said it was delivered. Well I listed the cards stolen that were PSA graded in a PSA set. Well today I got a please remove this cert# from your set, do you still own it. Email.
Thoughts?

I want to see/hear how this plays out. I would simply ask the person who emailed you how the obtained said card.
  • Handyman, send an email to Cosetta Robbins at PSA. Maybe she can be of assistance.

I bought a card about 3 months ago and got an empty bubble mailer. So technically it was delivered but I received nothing. The seller said he packed it and thought it must have been tampered with. I got my refund and kept on my merry way without leaving any feedback. This could have happened.

Why/how did you lose the case if delivery confirmation was shown? Did they claim an empty box or anything less than signature confirmation really worthless?

Is the guy trying to register the card the same as the buyer 3 years ago?

Thanks for the posts. Trying to figure if there is anything I can do. I dont think the item was stolen by the post office. The guy who filed a claim would not return or send any emails to me from day one. The day it was delivered and he saw i didnt have the proper postage on the package. he just filed a claim and won. Never emailed me. So I feel the guy just straight up took it from me. Trying to find the info on him but it was so long ago. And yes someone is trying to put it in a PSA set reg.

As a reminder-- when 3 business days pass he can send a scan of the front and back of the card to PSA and they will remove it from your registry so
the "new owner" can list the card. The sooner you advise PSA of what is going on the better.

Once they add it to their registry... then we can all see who owns the stolen card. image

If you filed a police report or insurance claim back then I can see you now legally making a claim against anybody who would register them. Otherwise anybody can claim cards were stolen from them years ago and then contact current owners looking for free cards. Unless the current person trying to register the cards is the same person that you sent the cards to then there's no point harassing the current registrant since you have no evidence the cards were ever stolen. You can check Ebay and VCP for recent sales of your cards to see if they happened to come from your guy. If they came from him then you can try hassling him but you won't get anywhere without real proof of a loss.

Yeah I feel the same way. Im just hoping its the same dbag that bought them from me. I honeslty forgot about it until I got the email from PSA. I checked it off as a lose and a lesson learned.

    I was gonna suggest this.

And, sadly, if the value of the card was a lot, all they need to do is crack and re-submit -- and the mystery will end there.
  • Having "lost" stuff on ebay as a seller and a buyer, I feel your pain. Just curious though - How could ebay rule against you if you had proof of delivery?

Can't they just not have their set open to the public?

Yes, I posted this question earlier and really want to hear the answer?

    Any updates on this?

Is the person who potentially scammed the card the same person who wants to add it to their set registry?
  • handymanhandyman Posts: 5,384 ✭✭✭✭✭
I let him use the cert to put it in his set. And he decided not to add it from what it looks like. No updates on the set reg for the card. I think he was testing to see if there were any problems with the certs. Im sure its being cracked out now.

I would check your Paypal invoice for the buyers name and State, then through the Set Registry and new additions to their sets track their purchases online and see if anything matches your original buyer. It would be great to nail someone but the guy would probably not wait 3 years to register it if he was the scammer and actually wanted to keep the card... although, stranger things happen all the time.

That's probably exactly what happened, who knows if it's going to be cracked out... he may just sell it. I would keep my eyes out for both situations, the fact that he never added it after the removal request looks very shady. Would PSA tell you who attempted to register it?
