eBay Watchers

I opened an eBay listing to getting a closer look at the image and was fortunate to read this diatribe: ![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif)
"I see you did it again, didn't you ? You just can't resist "watching" this every week even though we both know you have no interest in buying it, can you ? Well, since I can't stop you (I would if I could) I guess I'll just have to say go to it ! You've just got to appreciate the guys who keep "watching" this item each time I relist it. You just KNOW that they are sitting there contemplating whether this is the right week to spend the $40 grand or should I hold off till he lists it again next week ? Decisions, decisions ... I believe I have finally figured Ebay buyers out. After watching another round of items draw no bids at all despite having 18 "watchers" I have finally realized that the only items that might occasionally sell are those with NO watchers. Those items actually sometimes draw a bid from someone who was NOT "watching". Any item that has a "watcher" or "watchers" hasn't got a snowball's chance in Hades of ever drawing any bids. "Watchers" watch, period. That's it, they do not buy. ATTENTION : BIDDERS WANTED ! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED !!! JUST CLICK ON "PLACE BID" AND GO AT IT !!! To all of you who continually watch these items as they are listed and relisted countless times : You can't win if you don't bid. In most cases one bid will win my auctions. Watchers win nothing. DO NOT use the Ebay shipping calculator price quote (except on pre-set items such as single CDs or LPs) ! I will get you a post office quote at auction's end. The Ebay calculator is frequently wrong and usually in the favor of the seller. I WILL NOT be bound by their quote if it is too low to cover my expenses and if you underpay I will refund and begin the process over at the correct amount. If you use it and overpay, well, I have tried to help you and you ignored me so it's on you. Also, payment is expected within 4 days time. If payment is not received within that time period an unpaid item reminder will be sent. This will originate automatically from Ebay. It will not come from me and is not meant as a personal insult. If your are the type who can't handle getting such a reminder there is a very simple solution - make prompt payment. Payment via Paypal takes about 4 MINUTES so I feel that 4 DAYS is certainly sufficient time to get it done. If you fail to read or follow these instructions then it is you who have caused the problem, not me. Even Ebay acknowledges that it is the responsibility of the BUYER to read and follow the instructions of the seller in order to make a successful transaction. I am sorry to have to be so blunt but I am very tired of folks ignoring clear instructions and then blaming me for their mistakes. Respect is a two way street. I try very hard to treat my customers well (as my feedback indicates)but I need to receive a little consideration as well."
Edited to add: I couldn't even enlarge the image of this $40,000 listing!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>I am wasting far too much time, work, and money by getting right to work packing your item, driving to the post office the next day, getting a quote, and sending an invoice (which you still aren't responding to) >>
Who drives to the post office to get a shipping quote?
Funny stuff. It does get frustrating having lots of watchers and no bidders but isn't that the customer's choice to make. How would he like it if the next time he goes to a store the manager follows him around badgering him to stop looking and buy something already. Selling takes a little patience.

<< <i>OK, I'm all "watched-up" with him! LOL >>
Me too and who the hell are the arms? On VHS no less. I'd buy it if he had it on laserdisc
<< <i>That's classic....love it!! And I feel the same as that guy. Week after week, people watch auctions....but never buy. >>
How about those who watch Buy It Nows? Like the price will change!
Dude needs to lighten up. I would not buy from someone who conducts himself like that regardless if his complaint is valid or not.

<< <i>I bet most of his watchers do so just to see what clueless bidder will actually bid on the auction, LOL.. >>
Yeah, his stuff is all overpriced junk. No wonder no one bids. It's all just "curiosity" watchers.

This does in fact happen. I have watched ridiculously priced BINs (both officially and unofficially) sometimes for more than two years on a few cards I wanted. In a few cases the seller did finally dropped the price enough or switched it to an auction and it sold.
<< <i>"I truly regret having to address this issue but recent events have forced my hand.Starting today (7-8-11) I will need you to inform me when you are bidding on multiple items of your intent to do so immediately after winning the first item. I am wasting far too much time, work, and money by getting right to work packing your item, driving to the post office the next day, getting a quote, and sending an invoice (which you still aren't responding to) which prompts an unpaid item reminder all for an invoice you do not even need. PLEASE, all it takes is a little cooperation and consideration on your part. If this is not done I will be sending separate invoices, separate mailings, and separate shipping charges." >>
I wonder if he would appreciate me informing him that I have absolutely no intention to ever bid on any of his items whatsoever
Although Funny and oh so Sadly all true, he still made my "Never To Buy From!!" list. I don't do business with that kind of attitude!

Does his "About Me" page push it up to 100?
About Me: timebandit72( 537)
Blues and Boos
On an "about me" page I feel you should know first what I stand for. I stand for fair pricing, reasonable shipping charges, and going the extra mile to serve customers. I value your business and want to keep you as a customer and friend. I want to conduct myself in a way that makes the Lord proud and people I deal with happy.
The title of my page indicates what I specialize in. I feature blues music and musicians in CDs,LPs,tapes, magazines, photos and memorabilia. I also carry many titles of Horror films(the Boos)in VHS and DVD as well as horror film books and magazines and stills. I will search for items I don't currently have in stock as well and have been reasonably good at helping in such cases.
"Update (2-5) : It's been almost a day so far and only 17 watchers. That will never do. You are not at a pace to get anywhere near 200 so you will need to work harder. Having 17 in a day is only borderline "sick". You have to make the "sickness" into an obsession. I am confident that you have what it takes to get there though. Update (2-4) : COME ON it's been 2 hours and you ONLY have 6 "watchers" involved. You can do better than that. I'm expecting a smart guy like you to produce AT LEAST 200 "watchers" this time. Don't let me down ! You Know you can do it ! Spend every waking moment trying to increase that total. Come on, win the game ! Beat yourself ! The reward is so great ! Very cute ! Intentionally flooding all my listings with countless "watchers". I hope you found it an enjoyable way to waste a small piece of your life. Relisting; however, costs me nothing so I can play this game just as long as you can and at no cost. Let's see just how sad you are. Here it is again so let's see if you can top the amount of "watchers" you produced last time. One has to wonder what makes someone do something just to attempt to bother an individual whom they do not know and have never spoken to or met but when I look around today's world it becomes pretty clear. I pray you find something better to do with your time but, if you don't, just keep bugging me. At least you'll be leaving everyone else alone."

what he needs is a therapist, not more watchers.

You mean, the kind of attitude the would lead to numerous threads on CU complaining about ebay buyers?
If I watch this item, then remove it from my watch list, then re-add it, does that count as multiple watchers??
I really want to help you achieve your goal of 200!
Jeff
Dear rm84,
One can only try and hope. Don't disappoint me and allow me to form a better opinion of the type of folks that are out there. Prove to me that I am correct in my assessment of human character.

There's a guy at work who periodically uses a phrase I've grown to enjoy: "He is the author of his own misery." That seems applicable here as well.
