What to look for in 2013 Topps?

Fo r kicks I bought a wax box of the the 2013 Topps and was wondering what to look for as far as SP's and such. Is there a list of short prints somewhere I can get? I will be opening soon and post scans later.

I got out of the hobby in the mid-1990's because I thought it was getting too confusing and out of control with the inserts, but reading that blog it looks like the mid-1990's were nothing compared to nowadays.

I thought the Series 1 were 1 to 330. Why 3 cards with numbers greater than 330?

Who actually are the hits in 2013 Topps. I got a box here being opened and am catching myself getting excited on Trout/Harper cards, but that was last year. No interest in the variations, short prints etc. Who in the heck are this years Trout/Harper/Darvish type rookie players ? Anyone touted enough to care about this early ?
