Type III $1 Gold, Questionable Authenticity.....

I just got back an 1887 type III $1 Gold that apparently didn't make the cut...

Any thoughts or opinions on it?




I was taken by the strike on the reverse, with a lot of luster on both sides.

There is a spot on the reverse though with a slight tinge of greenish which kind of worried me in the beginning...

The key pick up on that dollar is the strong C in America. All real type 3, 1887's have a weak
C.
Your example is too large, most likely.
