4 piece Norse Medal set.

Has anyone ever seen them all together in one collection? I'm assuming it has been done before (Bass maybe, I know the large format silvered and the gold were in that sale).

Theoretically, this could be pushed to a set of five with the "believed to be unique" proof.

Thanks for your time in advance.

I am not sure if the population of the goods but I would think it could be quite the challenge...

That said I would love to see it together! Quite spectacular I would think!

And that proof would be amazing - I have always loved that medal. image

There's a dealer that shows in Seattle that has a hoard of them and he has all 4. I see him at the national shows now and then as well.
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.
  • The dealer's name is David Schmidt who runs Coins Unlimited out of Tacoma, WA. He has several gold pieces and probably a roll each of the thick and thin pieces. I believe he bought Rollie Finner's pieces. Schmidt gave a talk at last year's ANA Convention in Denver. The DVD of his talk is now available. He also had an article in a recent Numismatist magazine. Somewhere on C. U. you will find a photo of my 3" unplated bronze piece which David mentions in his talk.
  • Great photos!

I actually viewed a gold piece at the San Jose show this past weekend. It was graded PF30 in an old white ANA holder, quite a piece as well.
  • A short story. There were examples of the gold and large format silver Norse medals in the January 2012 Heritage auction at the FUN Show. I viewed them and had already bid on them prior to the auction. Opening bids at the auction were higher than my bids to I watched as they went to an internet bidder. A few months later, at my local coin club meeting, guess what walked in the door? YEP! The VERY same gold and silver medals I had viewed and bid on at the Heritage auction!!! A fellow coin club member won them both!!! Small world, eh?
