Perry, Ga coin show. Any reports?

Wondering if anyone found anything interesting this past weekend?

Due to a new baby in the house, I can't travel far from home for the next, umm, probably 20 years. This show is the closest to me at a smidge over 2 hours away.

Unfortunatlely, we had a bit of an ice storm in North Ga and i was unable to attend! image
  • I went on Saturday. It was a nice little show. Not crowded but well attended. Quite a few non coin dealers had tables...... Movie Posters, Jewelry, Sports Cards, Watches Fossils etc.. and a great number of currency dealers.

Bill Fivas gave an outstanding presentation on diagnostics of counterfeit gold coins and another on grading buffalo nickels. Many of those fakes were scary good ... especially the $5 Indians.

I tried selling/trading a 25th anniversary PCGS First Strike Flag Label Set but I guess the dealers are still saturated with them. The top offer I got was $750 for a set that had a PF70 Reverse Proof with the remainder being 69's. I passed. A few dealeres were selling the all 70 set for $1300 and raw sets for $700 so I guess I'll sell them individually on ebay see what they bring.

I did notice the spreads on generic gold seemed to be widening. Most dealers asking spot plus $300 or more for high AU/Low MS Saints.... 2013 ASE's were going for $37 each for singles.
I bought a few MS64 Franklins to fill out my Dansco but overpaid by a few dollars.

All in all, a decent way to spend a Saturday, but I don't see any reason to make the trip next year. I think the GNA an Blue Ridge Shows in Dalton were better, but hey that's just my opinion.
