Is this really a PCGS AU53? (1870-cc half)

Seller has listed it in the wrong category and has so-so feedback. Cert. checks out, but coin looks like a cleaned POS that was inserted into a cracked open PCGS slab. I'll eat my hat if this seller is legitimately offering a $40,000 coin.

The coin in the pic looks real.
The grade... Well.. It has a lot of meat left and i saw worse in au53 slabs.
I have to wonder if the pics are stolen? I dunno. The seller is just odd tho.

I bet the auction does not go to the end his statement in the description will be the out clause.

The funny thing is, nowhere in the description does it say you are getting a PCGS AU53 coin. Although they do have a picture of one there.......

Yes it does in the item specifics it says PCGS AU53 and cert number of the item. OH and if I don't get the item shown I will get my money back.

Up date I just got a email from the owner of this coin and he says it is in his safety deposit box and not listed on eBay.
Time shut down the scammer..

Why do the TPGs grade a rare coin such as this one yet it should have been bodybagged?

I sent the seller a polite note asking if the coin pictured was the one being offered and if
he is the owner of the PCGS registry set.

No response.

In this case the certification dates back to before PCGS had the Genuine service I think. And circulation can make the coin appear cleaned in less than stellar images.

BTW since the seller ended the item early looks like he will be into eBay for the fees on over $10,000 as the bid was there when ended....

Yeah, I started the other thread too. Did not realize it was the same con artist POS selling yet another 1870-cc he doesn't own. Better keep an eye on this guy.

It's impossible that all those parallel hairlines are circulation marks.
