Analysis of the two big Half Dismes

There was much discussion prior to the sale but I have not read any commentary following the sale.
1. Did $1,410,000 and $1,145, 625 reflect the true value for the Starr and Cardinal coins?
2. Should we assume that PCGS plastic is worth more than NGC plastic?
3. Should we assume that Heritage gets a higher return for their clients than Stack's Bowers?
4. Is this issue timing? After buying the Starr coin, that buyer was not in the market for the Cardinal coin and the remaining underbidder could get the Cardinal coin for less?
5. Or is there another explanation?

Otherwise we can only speculate!
There's no reason to think the TPG plastic really made a difference. I didn't exactly fall in love with the SP68 as much as
I did with the MS67.
When it comes to auctions and auction houses, if there is a MAJOR collection up for sale all/almost all the major parties
will know about them and either choose to play or not play.
My two cents
I believe they were SP67 and MS68, not the other way around.

Oops. Well, regardless of the MS/SP grade # they got, the each coin was unique and equally high grade.
The eye appeal and luster was quite different between the two - the MS piece had loads more luster and eye-appeal than the SP example.
