Lesson learned

Just got back into dabbling in cards and bought one of those $20 boxes of random packs at wal mart. Won't do that again. Best thing I pulled was a topps Verlander rookie. Are these pointless to buy? I am thinking so. Plus I have a $100 eBay gift cert to use. I like mcgwires 85 topps in a 9, but a 10 will be above the $100 as I searched completed. I got myself a 1984 topps mattingly psa 9 which I like. My gem 10 Jeff kent 1992 fleer update will be in my mailbox tomorrow, for $68 off eBay. But yeah, those boxes at wal mart are a waste

You should have combined the $20 and the gift cert and purchased a nice $120 card.

This has to be the post of the year. I've been on these boards for almost 10 years, and I don't think I've ever done a true spit take until I saw this post. Well played, sir.

I got lucky and pulled a Strasburg "Pie in the Face" Variety once from one of these Wal Mart boxes. Later sold it for $90 on Ebay. Had another Bo Jackson SP that sold for $15 and a few other decent cards, but yeah, for the most part you will get commons.
