Here are two recent purchases, and I have have them both in hand now. The question is, can you tell what composition these medals are struck in?

The only plausible choices for the San Francisco piece are copper, silver, and silver-plated copper
The only plausible choices for the Memphis piece are copper and silver.

I'll post the answer later tonight or maybe tomorrow.

This is what the two pieces really look like. The San Francisco piece is copper, and harshly cleaned to boot. The Memphis piece is silver.
FWIW, I don't think that either seller intentionally tried to hide anything. It's amazing how far off a picture's color can be.

Wow, the images were really off. The lighting source can greatly effect the appearance of coins in photos. That is why a good return policy is a must.

I was going to guess copper on the left and silver on the right. The left photo definitely had the look of an overexposed harshly cleaned copper coin - I say that having viewed thousands of pictures of Lincoln cents and recognizing the look. The only way that could have been silver is if the color balance of the whole picture was off, but there are no red tomes in the background.
