What would Beckett "Hot Lists" look like without all the crazy auto RC's on them??

Like most of you, I look at the Hot Lists each month to see whats on them and to see if there is anything I would want to buy and have graded by PSA. I was just wondering what the Hot Lists would look like without all those crazy short printed autographed cards? Would there be some vintage on those lists? I wish there was a list that was more realistic as far as what the average collector would be interested in. I can't see the average collector being interested in all those auto RC cards.

Of course people love auto RCs. If they didn't, the card companies wouldn't produce them and they certainly wouldn't be on any hot lists or sell well like they do.

What do you think the "average collector" looks like?

I think it would be interesting if they did a hot list of auto and insert cards, with a separate list for base cards.

    Appreciate today-

Be nice to see some separation by decade just to see more than the latest auto cards of one player for half of the hot list.
  • I agree. While the hot list has its merits, it seems to be an overall interest. Of course, I dont know where Beckett gets their info. But I am sure there are lots of ways to examine the market to produce various hotlists.

Exactly ! I would love to know which cards are "hot" from each decade.

I agree with the OP. I believe that I am what they call a purist. I am not interested in auto'd RCs of any kind. Maybe that has to do with the HOF RC registry, but I want to see the hottest non autographed RC of these players. I guess since I am talking about the registry, the hot list would consist of nothing but Topps Chrome for the modern guys. Thats just about all I buy anymore of the new stuff.

If Beckett published a special magazine for pre 1999 cards, would you buy it?

Do you mean a monthly dedicated to pre-1999 cards including Hot Lists? I think a lot of people would.

I would like much like pricing pages and a lot more articles, ads, list etc. though.
